I think the global grading system is a BAD idea!
The global grading system is just WRONG at so many levels!
Some parents may feel compelled to push the child to 'perform' rather than learn at their own pace and enjoy the process of learning.
Once the child senses this pressure, its going to be counter productive. My child would just stop playing it - and I would HATE to feel the twinge of disappointment when I get a report rather than assessing progress.
It completely ignores how a child plays with an App. There are times when they are in the mood to just randomly click around. Or sometimes they just want to explore what happens if they click the wrong thing over and over again. Infact, my child actually loves the way the animals in the memory game say "No-No" and deliberately chooses the wrong pairs and then laughs out loud.
Lets not forget that they are kids and rob them of their fun.

My son does that too sometimes. Also, he will play just to avoid going to bed, and still just space out and click random things. BUT, I already know this and take it into account when reviewing his performance. Having a global scoring would not change my interpretation. I know he thinks it is just a game. Like you said, it would be the parent to make a big deal about it and put pressure on the child. I for one am curious to see the global scoring. I doubt it is just our kids that goof around on this thing.

I agree. This is well stated and exactly how I feel on the matter. My daughter does the same to hear the "no-no" sound when playing. An assessment is more than enough.
Most children have many more apps they play and unless you could get an entire play grade and advancement, I feel it's a waste of my time to receive an email from one site telling me shes failed.
